River Cottage supplier wins Daily Mail taste test

As Tesco launched the £1.99 chicken, the Daily Mail tested five birds to see if we really get what we pay for.

The testing panel consisted of Henry Dimbleby (co-founder of Leon, the healthy fast-food restaurant chain); Henrietta Green broadcaster and writer, foodloversbritain.com); Joe Wadsack (food journalist and Richard and Judy's wine expert on Channel 4); Lydia Slater (the Mail's Weekend magazine food detective); and Denise Marks mother, grandmother and supermarket shopper).

Tesco's £1.99 bird scored lowest points with the panel, while a bird bought from our own Local Produce Store was judged best in test!
