River Cottage Canteen Bath
River Cottage has teamed up with friends Komedia to create the Bath Canteen in the stunning Beau Nash building in Westgate Street.
Focusing on the very best seasonal produce from the South West, head chefs Tom and Simon and the rest of the team are constantly adapting to deliver a fantastic culinary experience. Start the day with our River Cottage Farmhouse Breakfast or as a lighter option River Cottage homemade yoghurt mixed with a selected seasonal fruit accompaniment; followed by an organic, fair trade and locally roasted coffee or one of our large range of teas, some of which are grown as close as Cornwall. At lunch we have freshly cooked dishes from a menu which is updated daily, always with a choice of meat dishes from our friends at the organic Sydling Brook Farm, sustainable fish from the Cornish coast or vegetables sourced locally. Our a la carte evening menu also changes daily offering three courses of organic dishes that will appeal to all in a comfortable, relaxed and informal atmosphere.
If it’s just a snack you’re after we serve a stunning range of wickedly delicious cakes and cream teas. We also bake our own breads, savouries, cakes and treats at our in-house bakery where you can watch baker Clive working the dough. He, as with all our staff are happy to offer advice and help if you fancy recreating our fantastic River Cottage recipes at home.

River Cottage and the Environment At River Cottage, we’re trying to do our bit for the environment. It isn’t always easy and there’s always room for improvement. Below are some of the commitments we are making.
All our fresh meat and poultry is organically reared and sourced within 55 miles of Bath (50 would be nice, but one of our favourite organic farms is 52 miles away in Dorset!) Our fruit and vegetables are locally sourced and mostly organic. Our imported “exotics” – citrus fruits, bananas, avocados etc are either organic, or Fair Trade, or both. All our sea fish is sourced from fish landed by day boats in the West Country. We do not sell any dredged or beam-trawled fish or shellfish. Our dry goods, such as flours, sugars, grains, pulses, chocolate, coffee and spices (except for a couple of tricky ones, like nutmeg and smoked paprika) are either organic, or Fair Trade, or both. All our diary produce, with the exception of some fine locally made cheeses, is organic. Our non-food waste is being recycled with the help of Green Acre here in Bath. We are currently trialling a food waste digester at River Cottage HQ. If it’s a success we plan to install one here at the canteen. Our furniture is either recycled, or made locally from wood certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council. We have used environmentally friendly solvent free paint for all new paint work. River Cottage and Komedia are using a green electricity supplier.
