River Cottage Local Produce Store Axminster
The River Cottage Local Produce Store and Canteen can be found in the centre of Axminster on Trinity Square, just five minutes drive from River Cottage HQ. We work with a wonderful collection of local and organic food & drink producers from the South West and stock a wide range of provisions including milk, eggs, bread, meat, poultry, beers and wines. Our fantastic deli counter has award-winning pies, charcuterie and the best English cheese display in the West Country, featuring over 60 cheeses! We also have the full range of River Cottage books, DVDs, t-shirts and aprons. Virtually all of the produce has been sourced locally by Hugh and his team, from some of the very best South West producers. Tastings take place every week when we invite some of our suppliers into the Store to talk about their produce. There is also a regular programme of events throughout the year which focus on, and celebrate, the produce available at the Store and general seasonality.

River Cottage Canteen Axminster
The River Cottage Canteen also showcases the very best of what the South West has to offer seasonally, therefore the menu changes daily depending on what comes in from the farms and fishermen of the local area. We start the day with delights such as hot organic chipolata baps, River Cottage yoghurt & poached fruit or boiled free range eggs & soldiers, with fresh fair trade and organic coffee. Lunch could feature fresh line caught sustainable fish from Lyme Bay or River Cottage sausages, roast organic meats, pearled spelt risotto and many locally foraged wild ingredients. If that isn't enough to satisfy you we also serve a stunning range of wickedly delicious cakes and cream teas served with local organic butter or clotted cream as well as locally made fruit preserves.

Our dinner and Sunday lunch dishes reflect the passion and imagination of our outstanding team of chefs with just that little bit more happening on the plate than at lunchtime and of course the menu is a homage to the wonderful local bounty that we are lucky enough to enjoy here in the South West. Please see below for opening hours and click here to view our sample menus, but remember the menu changes all the time!
Booking is recommended for evenings and Sunday lunch - please note, we do not take bookings at other times. Children are most welcome and we do accept bookings for private parties.
