Moles - how to get rid of them?

Problem with moles - they are happily digging the whole lawn and field up, big time! Want to get rid of the problem, but have some reservations of just killing them. Not sure if they are 'persona non grata' or just getting a bad press? Like to live and let live if possible and would rather 'live' catch them and release them in a little mole paradise some distance away (sorry if that's near you!). Does anyone have any exerience of success with 'live' mole traps? do they work? or am I being daft and should just go for the effective tunnel traps which will just kill them in their runs?

Hi We had a bit of mole nightmare. We tried lots of things but squeemishly kept away from traps.
Anyway we bought a solar powered mole deterrent and Bob's your uncle no more moles. It took less than a week for them all to disappear. We have a large garden 1.3 acres and one deterrent has cleared the whole garden. They aren't very expensive about £12.
Hope this helps.

Never use petrol down the wholes and lightening them unless you want to learn how many tubes they dig.
Ultrasonic devices work pretty well, if you're NOT out on cats, they are a probably a solution themselves.
Another thing might be a ferret, but you have to train them (to come back:-))) and you have to keep at least two of them, they hate to be alone (same problem, the go out to search some company)

Let them do the dirty work...
