Not quite in the garden, and in the woods, but we went up to get a bit of charcoal yesterday. The kilns are in a clearing in the woods with tall trees around, but the area to the south open. There are still a few foxgloves in flower together with burdock, St. John's Wort and a few others. All around the woods are rather dark, and in the clearing it is green and full of sunlight, often with butterflies such as whites, silver washed fritillaries, red admirals and the peacock I saw yesterday.
I was taking the rhubarb pic for the thread on whether or not I should keep harvesting, and went a bit snap happy. So heer's what's happening chez Woifey:
Beans, parsnips, kale etc:
Chutney-to-be:
Jam tomorrow, or in a couple of weeks:
I'm still calling these langley bullaces, 'til definitely told otherwise:
Now have a different combination of pictures and can see the beetroot. Have now seen all the pictures, but for some reason not all together.
My beetroot hasn't grown very big, but we have had some anyway. I haven't grown it for some years, but have now found a way of eating it other than pickled, that I prefer, so worth growing again.
I usually grow loads of beetroot, but this year the first...and only...ones I planted are still at the baby beet size, they really have been bad. Both round and long.
Taste nice though.
My garden is tiny compared to your's Woifey, so I am inclined to try to pack too much in (though I try to restrain myself!)
In the garden this morning
The poppy just keeps on keeping on..........
Wild verbascum - verbascum blattaria L f erubescens, native to North America, appeared in my orchard, very beautiful
Love the poppy, LL got some of those on the way up to the lotty and if I lean over I could grab a few seed heads when they are ready.......
sshhh
lovely!
Great stuff... Summer mornings are great!

My borage is doing really well in our front garden - sorry no pictures though :-(. It will appreciate the drizzle this morning!

And standing a bit battered in the Irish summer:
I can't seem to get all your picture together Woifey, but have now seen all but the chutney to be. Looks very productive.
Not sure whether it's my posting or the site... but all looks ok on my screen...
The beetroot has gone MAD this year!
