Apparently the supply is having problems getting the cream to the UK so many chemists are out of stock due to 'supply' problems ....... for the first year in many I have one chilblain - any [clean] solutions for treatment?
The preliminary treatment of the feet before applying the ointment sometimes works effectively -that is, soak the affected area in warm water, then dry thoroughly. The one provides an all-round warmth to encourage the blood vessels to open up, the latter stimultes the vessels to greater activity, Chilblains are primarily a result of poor circulation (which is why we get them on our extremities).
I might even try rubbing a little chest rub on them like Vicks if it were me being desperate.
Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
That makes sense woodlandfeathers, onions are quite high in zinc, which also makes them act as an antibacterial agent. Zinc is also one of the main ingredients in Sudocrem so maybe it has healing properties other than just being an antiseptic.
Zinc & Castor Oil Cream in Boots/Supermarkets-basically Nappy cream or Snowfire £2.49 for a solid stick like a jumbo lipbalm, does work, contains juniper oil & geranium oil...ofcourse I guess you could try these essential oils in the zinc & castor oil cream
Thanks - I've been away and the offending toe has improved with Savlon and something the Pharmacist recommended. I could have used honey I suppose - Granma swore by zinc and castor oil for everything

Sudocrem, the nappy rash cream is good for chilblains.
Raw onions are good rubbed on chilblains as long as you don't mind the smell!
It does help, I tried it in desperation one year.

It works on a lot of skin problems because zinc seems to be good for the skin. Never to be taken internally though as it isn't good on the inside.
I take zinc tablets every day, good for the hair and skin!
