No but it looks awesome
I had a large bonfire in the bottom of a field last week
Not quite the same but still fun
Theres something primitive and compelling about fire

Dontmake a special trip, I have been once and never again. A load of camp tosh. The lighting up is good and the anticipation of all the town lights going off to give good effect but after an hour of smurfs and men dressed as women with torches it drags a bit.( pardon the pun) The same song is sung over and over again for hours, no pipe bands or anything else. There are only the lead men dressed as vikings and they shout Welsh rugby slogans, all a big let down. The double march is only visible from the air and so is the ring around the ship, all while singing the same song. The photos look good but that is it. The viking costumes are handmade and very good but still all very technicolour men in tights jobbies. There are Up Hellyahhs for three months not just the Lerwick one. The best are Scallowayand Brae as they send the burning galley out to sea not just burn it in the play park. Having said all that they dontdo it for tourists and the hotels will be booked for next year already by Shetlanders not wanting to drink and drive as the festivities go on till the next day ,that is why the next day is U p HellyAhh day holiday and not the fire festival day, a mistake many folk make when booking holidays and find out it was last night!
If they just lit the torches , made the procession smaller so it only took an hour and then lit the ship( which you cant see for the ring of folk unless you are a reporter) it would be better. O h and a bit more believable vikings) Dont let me put you off, I wont recommend the trip for that alone though.
