That sounds a good idea Ozzi. Steve and Julie, if you go that route they will also be able to help with making sure you both understand what you are taking on and advising if anything offered is suitable. You may need to join the association, but you might find it worth while.
Most people see the problems with the bees, and are also worried about the neighbours. We no longer keep bees in our garden for this reason. As my FIL said many years ago, if the neighbours know you keep bees every wasp that stings them is one of your bees.
And as the law says - prove it. In oz at least, it is necessary to prove the bee that stung you came from the owner's hive. Given the situation with the neighbour I made darn sure I knew the legal position before I got them.

Small Piece of Land
Is there anyone around the NN Postcodes that know of a small piece of land that we could put 1 or 2 Beehives on?
It need not be large field just a small private area away from homes and roads.
If you do please let us know.
With thanks
Steve and Julie

Perhaps if you were to contact your local beekeeping association they would know of someone with a spare spot?

If you contact the local bee keepers, send me a PM as I'm in NN12.
Hi Julie is a member and attends the Winter Sessions here in Northampton, we will be going to the training Apiary from April onwards.
Steve
Hope you enjoy it. Do you have any bees yet or are you hoping to get a swarm this year?
Hi - we are looking to purchase a colony in mid-April, first we must find an obliging land owner! not that easy!
strange really - you would think people would queue up to get a bit of home-made honey in exchange for a corner of their garden ...

I am in NN12 - several bee keepers in this area to give advice - send me a PM?
