Bespoke & Private Events at River Cottage

To complement our hugely popular range of public River Cottage courses, we can now organise a private event for you and your family, friends or colleagues. Maybe you're looking for an unusual way to celebrate a birthday or an anniversary, or you want to take your clients or colleagues somewhere different. If so, then Park Farm is the perfect venue.

Established by food writer and broadcaster Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, River Cottage HQ is a 65 acre organic, working farm where we have based our rural events and courses centre. Situated in a beautiful valley near Lyme Regis, on the Devon/Dorset border, it's the base for Hugh's team, who can teach you how to do everything from rearing and butchering your own animals to foraging for your own food, all taught by our River Cottage experts.

You can book the living room of our beautiful 17th century farmhouse for a special dinner with friends where we can comfortably seat up to 18 people. Or if you fancy any of our regular courses you can takeover the whole HQ site for a private day. Alternatively, if you have a larger group in mind you can enjoy a delicious seasonal meal in our barn - with space to comfortably seat up to 60 people.

The Farmhouse

The living room, in our recently restored traditional Devon farmhouse, is a wonderful place to celebrate a special event and spend some time catching up with a group of friends. Here you can relax in front of the fire in the spacious living room as our chefs prepare a sumptuous seasonal meal for you.

‘Delicious, fresh, local produce cooked before you in warm and comfortable surroundings.  A truly unforgettable experience!’
The Doran/Gipson Family January 2008

The Barn

Our restored threshing barn, with its oak floor and large windows, is a glorious space at any time of the year. It's the perfect venue for lunches and dinners as well as cookery demonstrations. With a professional kitchen at one end and a mini shop at the other (selling a range of Hugh's books), your guests will be well catered for.

Courses

We can provide private versions of any of our regular courses (depending on the season) from learning about seasonal food or butchery - to more hands-on activities such as venturing out on the River Cottage boat to catch your own fish, or digging for clay with which to build your own wood-fired baking oven.

'..the event you organised for us was not a typical River Cottage event but it really did make it a special reward to everyone on my team for the work they have done with our client over the past few months. All the staff went out of their way to ensure we had fun and informative day which we certainly did.'
