Included in the price of the ticket is a copy of the River Cottage Bread handbook, written by Daniel Stevens.
There are few things more heartwarming than a home-made mince pie, especially when it's topped with brandy butter! Come and learn the stress-free way to make great Christmas treats for your friends and family, on our Christmas bread and baking course.
The day will be taught by Gideon Hitchin, one of bread experts and creator of our Build & Bake course. Gid will explain the ins and outs of baking, aiming to inspire you to abandon shop bought loaves for a world of delicious breads, baked at home. Other goodies may include: festive tea-and-tipple bread; chestnut meringues (with chocolate sauce, of course!); a winter fruits trifle; hazelnut shortbread and boxing-day date and walnut bread.
The day is very hands on, and is built around the Bread Handbook basic bread method . We will show you how this can be adapted with infinite variations, to give you complete confidence to become master of your own bakery. The course will cover other breads such as foccacia, ciabatta and flatbreads, as well as pizza, which you will bake in our wood-fired oven, and eat as part of an informal lunch, along with dishes prepared by the River Cottage Kitchen. We will also show you how to create and nurture you own wild yeast starter.
Please note: Hugh will not be attending this event.
