The famous kitchen garden has always been central to life here at Park Farm. It supplies our kitchens with tasty fresh produce while reminding us of food’s seasonal journey from plot to plate. With his extensive gardening knowledge and impressive professional background, Will will teach you how to get growing delicious seasonal and organic vegetables.
The group size is deliberately kept small to enable us to tailor the day to ensure you get the most from your course.
Arrive: Tractor ride down to the farm where you will catch your first glimpse of the famous farm house where the day is based.
Session One: You'll start off by finding out which areas you most want to learn about during the day and will ensure that these topics are thoroughly covered. Next, you'll be shown why you should grow your own, by explaining the amazing variety, value and flavours available from organically home grown seasonal vegetables.
Session Two: Walk out of the farmhouse and into the kitchen garden. Find out how to get the best from your growing space, understand crop rotation, discover how to make the perfect compost and how to make your soil work for you.
Session Three: A guided tour of our poly tunnels. You’ll see what is growing at the time and learn the practical benefits of protected growing under cover. You'll learn the fundamentals of propagation so you can raise all of your plants from seed or cuttings.
By the end of the day you will travel back up the farm track with all the confidence you need to get growing your own and get the most out of your own garden.
