If you are looking for new and exciting ways to turn your vegetables into delicious meals or want to know how to get the best out of your veg box, this one day cookery school will provide you with the know-how. After the course you will take home the knowledge and enthusiasm to create delicious vegetable-based feasts to feed your family and impress your friends.
Your day at River Cottage
Arrive: Tractor ride down to the farm
Welcome: Meet your host and tutor for the day. Enjoy a morning tea or coffee and tasty River Cottage treats. See for yourself the famous River Cottage farmhouse and kitchen garden and some of the seasonal vegetables that you will cook with during the day.
Garden Tour: Enjoy a short tour around the gardens looking at the seasonal vegetables growing at River Cottage HQ.
Practical Session One: Veg stock - key to the success of veggie soups, stews, risottos, gratins and curries, a good veg stock will take your dishes to another level.
Practical Session Two: Mezze dishes - in this session you will whip up some delicious veggie snacks, you'll tuck in straight away but they would make excellent starters.
Practical Session Three: Pudding - we turn our attention to pudding as we make delicious fruit-based desserts.
Practical Session Four: Soups - use your stock to prepare a seasonal soup.
Practical Session Five: Centre Stage - pull together a delicious main course using fresh seasonal vegetables.
Supper: At River Cottage food is very much the focus and your sumptuous two course lunch of local seasonal fare prepared by the River Cottage team will not disappoint.
Close: Have a chat with fellow course attendees and members of the River Cottage team, before jumping on the tractor to take you back up the hill.
This is a guide to the activities that will make up your course at River Cottage. This is by no means set in stone and will depend on the season as well as the group's interest.
Location: This course is run from River Cottage HQ on the Dorset/Devon borders. Full address details of HQ will be provided once you have booked.
Wine/drink: We are a licensed venue. We have a wide selection of the finest organic wines.

Age: We would advise that this course is only really suitable for 12 years of age and upwards. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. We put these guidelines in place for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests.
Time: 10.00am - 5.00pm
On occasion cookery schools will use equipment that includes induction hobs. It is recommended that people with pace makers should not work on these units.
