We are currently fighting an application for eight massive broiler units close to our village Bleasby Moor Market Rasen Lincolnshire.
There are currently several obsolete layers units on the site which will make way for the broiler units which will house 312,000 chickens.
Many will know that broiler units are completely and totally different from layers with wholly new operating methods on a 40 day cycle.
All this will happen within 150 metres of our village.
We are very concerned about the levels of disturbance and disruption this development will have.
The noise of the roof fans(72 in number), the noise of the feed tankers filling the hoppers(24 in number), the noise of 145 HGV movements in the 40 day cycle(many during the early hours), Visual aspects of such a huge unit, and the virtual constant use of our very poor condition local roads.
Many of my neighbours are very worried about the health aspects from pollution and effluent discharged from the chimneys and roof fans.
Is there anyone who has experience of fighting an application like this, or anyone living close to a poultry unit and suffering problems?
Thank you in advance.

These installations are no way to be described as farms jimcrow. They are industrialised units which take away the rights of the poultry as sentient beings.
Trying to contact you on your mobile since article on local radio in February. have much experience on same problem - please check your mobile messages 7 may be able to give you some pointers.
If the planning regs are different now to the early 80`s you have no problem
I have townie neighbours who keep 5 Great Danes in their house,i`ll swap your chicken sheds any day.
Out of interest, have you lived there long?
A touch of irony here I think! Reminds me of an American asking me as we were landing at Heathrow 'Why did they build Windsor Castle so close to the airport? (without irony).
Seriously , Lincolnshire is one big farm, with a few villages scattered in between. It is without doubt a farming county. The layers units that are currently close to our village were built when the planning regulations were totally different to what they currently are.
In fact the records state that there was no opposition at the time (early 1980's)
The reason we are objecting is that broiler units are completely and utterly different from layers units. There is far more activity in the 40 day cycle.
And at 150 metres the new units will undoubtedly encroach upon our village life.
Look out of your window, estimate 150metres, and that is where eight huge broiler units would be.
Anyone out there fancy living that close?
Why do they build these villages so close to farms.
