Hooray! Half a million fish fighters!
What a fantastic result. I’d like to thank every single one of you who has signed up – and helped spread the word far and wide.
It’s an astonishing achievement.
Of course it’s not the end of our Fish Fight, it’s just the beginning.
So here’s my pledge to you. I won’t squander this support. It will not be wasted, like all that beautiful fish thrown back into the sea.
It will be gathered, harnessed and directed where it is needed - at our politicians and policy makers, both here in Britain and in Europe.
Your voice will be heard, and I’ll do all that I can to make sure it makes a difference. At some point in the coming months, I may come back to you and ask for your help in taking this campaign to another level.
Meanwhile, please keep spreading the word. Half a million supporters today – less than a week after our shows went out!
I wonder if a million sign ups is a crazy dream...what do you think? If you still know a couple more people who you think would back us, why not give them a shout....!

Hi Hugh, We have written as a family to our MP and also suggested that the the EU ignore the discard issue then surley as a country we can bring back the discards and give them to the following.
Homeless charities to help feed the people thye look after.
Schools in the UK so to teach Children at an early age how good fish is to eat and how easy to cook. This will help reduce the UKs no one problem OBESITY!!!!!!!
Hospitals to feed the people who are staying in them. Good food for sick peolpe and its free discards.
It is terrible that all this good food is going to waste and in most cases striaght to the bottom of the sea.
Keep up the great work.
Andrew.
Only watched about 30 mins of the fish fight.
What dawns on me is that it is going to be difficult to eliminate indiscriminate fishing. Why can't we use the excess quota. It only seem logical to force fishermen to bring back the quota to sell with all profits going toward a conservation or breeding scheme.
In modern business today it is well recognised that there should be no such thing as waste, most if not all waste can be sold on.
We could even give them to a charity. Please keep up the good work.
Hopefully the fish fight campaign is being aired worldwide?
Keep up the good work Mr FW and team!
Over Half a million!! Thats great, Hugh.
I was shocked and horrified at the amount of fish being thrown away. I wish you all the success with this campaign. We are all with you on this, Hugh.
Well Done Hugh and to everybody that participated so far. Thanks for opening our eyes. Half a million and going strong. Just read an article about it in the Guardian. We are starting to make a difference. Nice. )
1/2M signatures & counting; kudos Hugh!
Our oceans (and the life residing within) depend upon each of us to be good stewards by demanding sustainability & accountability...leading us to responsibility.
I add my voice saying Thank You to Hugh for speaking up & out against the wasteful quotas.
Well done Hugh, enough is enough and 500,000 can't be wrong. keep the pressure on and let us know what help you need next.
Even if HF-W does collect five million supporters nothing will be achieved unless they can be harnessed to a political end, and thatcannot be with the three main parties who are all wedded to Brussels. The only course of action that will achieve the control of our waters and an end to fish discards is a vote for UKIP. Only by leaving the EU will we be able to control our own destiny.
