Good afternoon all! and what a lovely day!
I have been sorting out my cucumber patch (outside)
They have not been doing very well at ALL!
All have gone yellow and no fruits? I'm very disappointed.
Will have to re-think for next year........ a small greenhouse I thinks.

There are outdoor cucumber varieties but most do need to be grown under glass. However, our courgettes were looking fantastic about a month ago and now they look like your cucumbers which I can only put down to the cool/wet spell we had.
i totally agree about having heat for your cucumbers,a polytunnel is a great investment(try and get the max size you can afford coz you will soon fill it up!) i have grown diana f1 this year, all female plants. i would recommend them,we have been harvesting for months.in one sitting we picked 13 cues from 4 plants! i was gobsmacked at that! be warned though, we have to fight our way in the door of the tunnel coz they have taken over and definately need a bit of tameing! good luck for next time : - )
hi hermit
yes i agree with you! thats going to be my next prchases for 2010.
thank you for your reply :O)
Yes I think cucumbers need a greenhouse, they definately need heat to germinate and dont like being cold or wet.Mine have gone mental in the polytunnel. Hermit ps get a self pollinating variety makes life a lot easier
