. ?? Fish fight are the followers ripping us off?????

by Po35ups published on
I totally agree with the fish fight that Hugh is fighting. I supported eating mackerel until I went to Cowes week on the Isle of Wight (where I live) only to find it cost £6.50 for a bread roll with I fillet inside. Down the road cod and chips, big portion, £4.50! I have bought mackerel on the island for 50p each. Maybe I should go into the mackerel business as I would probably just made £12.00 profit if I had used value rolls for my fish burgers. This is not encouraging the public to eat different fish at those prices.

Mackerel is no longer on the sustainable list (unless it is caught by line).

Cowes week would have put the prices up. I was talking to a man who does food fairs and the cost of stalls, mobile handwashing units( which have to be rented from the council Health and Safety ), chiller units on site , even plastic gloves for food handling etc are very expensive.
Cod and chips up here are nearly a tenner!
