About Me: I am artist please view my website for my bio. I have joined River Cottage because of the grate recipes and the TV series are brilliant! I think River Cottage shows the best of British food.
I have taken up shooting as a hobby just target shooting at the moment (22 air rifle). Watching River Cottage has intrigued me to try game and I think the best way is to obtain it myself (shoot/kill it) as I live in Shropshire there is a lot of it around. Please note, I will not be shooting animals for fun! A killing of an animal I take very seriously and it will be for personal consumption.
My questions are:
1. Should I worry about diseases? How would I recognise if it does have one?
2. Animals classed as game, pheasant, rabbit and pigeon do they all taste the same?
3. What pellets would you recommend for the best humane killing?
After watching Hugh's veg series, I too have decided to cut down on meat. I will only buy from my local butchers or farm shops as I know the animal would of had a good, happy life. I don't think I could go full vegetarian because am limited to the vegetable I like, although I have found quite a few veg dishes on here that I like so am doing a veg week trail, so far so good! :-D
Back to my question. Have you a recipe for a burger? As I don't like the thought of Quorn, it doesn't look appealing to me in the slightest.
Thank you in advance, I very much appreciate your time. :-)
Can you freeze your home made bread?
I have been making Hugh's bread for over 6 months and it is delicious! My problem is, its being eat too quick then am having to make more, but if I make more if it has to be used as bread crumbs as its not been used! So am thinking of freezing it. So my questions are:
1. How long will it keep frozen whilst remaining its fresh baked taste?
2. Should I wrapped it in cling film or put it in a container?
3. Could I even freeze the dough then bake as and when needed?
Thank you in advance :-)
I am about to do stock for the very first time, this one in fact:
My question is, how can I store it? Does it have to be kept in the fridge or can I freeze it? In both cases how long will they last for?
Thank you in advance.
Since watching the 2010 Treats episode where they make lemonade with a hint of mint, I want to make it. I am a very heavy pop drinker and I want to replace that with this lemonade as I want to make everything myself, I don't like the thought of all those E numbers no more, it all started with making bread and since then I haven't looked back. So my question is, can you make different flavoured of drinks? If so I would be very grateful to have them and put them to the test.
Thank you in advance.
