Willow Deer Workshop
Learn how to make a 3 foot willow deer for your home or garden with Devon-based willow artist, Katherine Miles.
Famed throughout the South West, Katherine's life-sized willow animal sculptures are displayed in stately homes, private gardens and as interior design pieces.
Katherine will guide you through the process, weaving along with you, at this exciting and fun workshop.
The workshop is suitable for beginners with no prior knowledge of weaving. All materials will be supplied, including locally sourced willow, but please feel free to bring along your favourite secateurs. It would also be advisable to wear old and comfortable clothing.

Arrive at River Cottage
You’ll be met at the top of the hill and transported to River Cottage HQ by tractor and trailer.
Start your morning with tea or coffee and tasty treats fresh from the River Cottage kitchen.
To get the day underway, Katherine will cover the basics of willow weaving and then guide you through the process, weaving along with you through the morning.
Food is always the focus at River Cottage, and a two-course lunch of local, seasonal fare will be one of the highlights of your day.
You'll return to your weaving after lunch, finishing off your deer sculpture. Once you've finished you can stand back and survey the beauty of your work!
At the end of the day you’ll be whisked back up the hill by our tractor and trailer, along with your beautiful willow structure ready to adorn your home or garden.
