Artisan Demo and Dine

Join us for an artisan masterclass followed by a four course lunch of the finest seasonal fare.

We are delighted to announce this new series of events, in which you will enjoy a half-day (2 hour) masterclass from one of River Cottage’s expert tutors, followed by a fantastic 4 course meal focusing on the subject of their demonstration.

Our Chef Tutors will explain and show you some of the key principles of their specialist subject, and demonstrate innovative dishes which will be served as canapés or incorporated into your lunch.

This is not a hand-on course, but a great opportunity to watch and learn about some of our core River Cottage subjects – and indeed work up an appetite for a feast that exemplifies the skill in question.

Once the masterclass is finished, canapés will be served with a glass of our River Cottage Organic Sparkling Wine. You will have a chance to chat with your tutor and ask questions before your 4-course lunch is served.

Learn how to make 2 brilliant pasta doughs using the finest British organic flours, and serve them beautifully with sauces made from the best seasonal ingredients.

Learn how to get started in artisan charcuterie with home-cured bacon and chorizo.

Fundamentals of Fermentation - Date Coming Soon

Learn the rudiments of home-fermenting with an introduction to sauerkrauts, kombucha and kefir.

Your day

11.00 - 15.30

  • Arrive at River Cottage

    You’ll be met at the top of the hill and begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the wonderful pathways down to the farm, enabling you to really soak up the views of the valley.

  • Masterclass

    Settle into the 18th Century Threshing barn with a cup of tea or coffee as your masterclass begins. Your tutor will demonstrate the key principles of the specialist subject and create dishes for you to try during your visit.

  • Tasters

    Once your masterclass has finished, you'll enjoy the canape tasters with a glass of fizz and have an opportunity to ask any burning questions.

  • Feast

    You'll take a seat at the table and your chef will talk you through the menu and share more about our philosophy as well as the provenance and preparation of our seasonal dishes.

    It's finally time to tuck into the four course menu of fantastic local and seasonal produce.

  • Departure

    There'll be time for a coffee or tea before you head up the hill to the car park.

On occasion cookery schools will use equipment that includes induction hobs. It is recommended that people with pace makers should not work on these units. We would advise that this course is only really suitable for 12 years of age and upwards. Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. We put these guidelines in place for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests.

With many of our courses there are often treats and leftovers to take away with you. In our quest to be more sustainable we are encouraging guests to bring their own containers and bags to transport their produce home. Details of what is required for each course will be included in booking emails.
