A Celebration Of…
At River Cottage HQ we are spoilt for choice when it comes to the abundance of amazing produce grown and raised on our farm and across the southwest. Whilst we celebrate this every day we wanted to make an extra special fuss throughout our 20th year at River Cottage and give guests the opportunity to join us for an incredible six-course feast focused around our favourite ingredients.
Our team of chefs have created an exciting schedule of feasts focusing on some of the incredible ingredients we have and the cooking techniques we use. Each month we will be hosting an indulgent six course feast that will showcase a particular River Cottage passion whether it involves fish, outdoor cooking, fermentation and veggies. We hope we can tempt you to come and join us for one or more of our outstanding feasts…

Outdoor Cooking with Gill Meller – to celebrate the publication of our 17th handbook ‘Outdoor Cooking’, author, chef and RC contributor Gill Meller will be creating and hosting a very special Friday night event. Join him to hear more about his outdoor cookery adventures and feast on a variety of amazing wood fired dishes from the book.
Fire and Smoke - We love any excuse to cook over an open fire at River Cottage. This elemental form of cooking creates flavour, versatility and excitement so we had to devote a whole evening to it. Rain or shine, come down to our new outdoor cookery area for a fabulous, fiery feast.
Fish & Shellfish - Being so near to the coast, fish and seafood has always been close to our hearts at HQ. Our chefs will be using the best, freshest and most sustainable bounty that our local shores can provide. You may be able to glean a few fish filleting tips from the kitchen if you join us.
Veggie – In the summer our vegetable garden and polytunnels are fit to bursting with traditional, heritage and unusual varieties of produce. Under the helpful eye of our Head Gardener, the chefs love to harvest directly from the walled garden to create a fully vegetarian menu. This is one of our favourite feasts of the year, making veggies the star of the evening.
Game - Autumn is the perfect time of year to embrace the natural wild larder, teeming with some of the richest, most sustainable meat. Share in the celebration and give thanks for the best produce from fur to feather, that the beautiful Devon countryside has to offer.
Pig - Pork is an incredibly versatile meat and we make sure we use every part of the magnificent animal, from nose to tail. What better way to experience River Cottage and the unbeatable flavours that our rare breeds provide, from smoking and curing to slow roasting over fire.
Preserving/Ferments – Preserving gluts of summer produce used to be the only way to survive the long cold months ahead so this feast explores and celebrates these traditions, bringing them up to date with our own modern twists. In the depths of winter, sit down to a delicious dinner focused on all things fermented and pickled, dried and smoked, and enjoy a taste of summer in December.

Arrive at River Cottage
You’ll be met at the top of the hill at 6.30pm and transported to River Cottage HQ by tractor and trailer.
Welcome and canapés
We’ll greet you in our cosy yurt with canapés and a seasonal cocktail, and you will have the chance to explore our idyllic surroundings.
As you settle in for the evening, your chef will introduce the menu and tell you more about our philosophy, the food’s provenance and how the dishes have been prepared.
The main event
You’ll be treated to a six-course menu of fantastic local produce which will all be focused around the evenings celebrated theme. Please see details of this above. We happily cater for any dietary requirements, which you’ll be asked to provide when booking.
Petits fours and coffee
After dinner you’ll unwind with coffee and petits fours (if you still have room), before being driven back up the hill by our tractor and trailer.

We are a licensed venue. We have a wide selection of the finest organic wines available to purchase.
