Forager's Lunch

Discover how delicious Britain’s hedgerows and wild food sources can really be.

Enjoy a drink on arrival and take a guided tour of our grounds with our foraging expert John Wright.

Our beautiful local Devon hedgerows, woodland and fields are full of wild food secrets, easily shared when you know what you are looking for and where to find it. You’ll have the opportunity to ask John any questions as you wander the grounds and whilst he joins you for lunch.

After you’ve explored the hedgerows and fields, you’ll take your seats in our Threshing Barn.  Before your feast begins, our chef will explain what is being served, a little bit about where the food came from and how it has been prepared. Our chefs make the most of the season’s produce, harvesting directly from the hedgerows, streams and feilds as well as our abundant gardens. All you need to do is sit back, soak up the inspiration and enjoy!

We recommend dressing for the weather as you'll be spending around 2 hours outside.

Your event

10:15 - 15:00

  • Arrive at River Cottage

Begin your River Cottage experience with a 10-15 minute walk through the pathways down to the farm, enabling you to really soak up the views of the valley.

  • Make yourself at home

You will be greeted by our friendly front of house team with teas and coffees. Your host John Wright will begin by introducing the day before you set off on your forage.

Once seated in our threshing barn, your chef will talk you through the menu and share more about our philosophy as well as the provenance and preparation of our seasonal dishes.

John will join you as you're treated to a three course menu of fantastic foraged, local and seasonal produce.

  • To Finish

Just time for coffee and petits fours (if you still have room), before heading home.
