Mother's Day Lunch
This Mothering Sunday spoil your mum or treat your family to a celebratory lunch at River Cottage HQ.
Collected by tractor at the top of the hill you will be transported down the track to our 100-acre farm nestled in the Axe Valley, complete with 17th century farmhouse, barns, livestock and produce gardens. Before lunch enjoy a local seasonal tipple and relax in front of the open fire in the cosy yurt, or explore our productive kitchen garden.
Once you are settled at communal dining tables in our beautifully restored 18th century threshing barn our Head Chef will share the story behind the three courses being served. We are internationally renowned for creating a constantly changing set menu inspired by what has been foraged, caught or picked from the kitchen garden that day; a lunch which reflects the very best seasonal and local ingredients. We regularly incorporate the latest recipes we are working on as well as featuring firm River Cottage favourites.
The garden and land team liaise closely with the kitchen team to grow, nurture and harvest the produce for our events. Anything additional we need is sourced from our excellent neighbour suppliers including Trill, Coombe Farm Organic and Haye Farms. In fact two of these farms are so local to us we can see them from our back step.
There is a drinks list available including our own ale and cider, as well as some local icons like Somerset Cider Brandy and the effervescent Castlewood Sparkling from the vineyard over the brow of the hill. At the end of the lunch the tractor will be on hand to take you back up the hill.
We welcome children of all ages to our Mother's Day Lunch, with reduced-price tickets for under-10s. Please purchase an adult ticket for children aged 10 and over. If you have a younger child who will be attending, but not dining with us, please call 01297 630300 so that a highchair can be allocated.

Arrive at River Cottage
You’ll be met at the top of the hill at 12.00 and transported to River Cottage HQ by tractor and trailer.
We’ll greet you with seasonal drinks and you will have the chance to explore our idyllic surroundings.
As you settle in, your chef will introduce the menu and tell you more about our philosophy, the food’s provenance and how the dishes have been prepared.
The main event
You’ll be treated to three courses of fantastic local and seasonal produce, planned on the day to showcase the freshest and the best. We happily cater for any dietary requirements, which you’ll be asked to provide when booking.
Petits fours and coffee
After lunch you’ll unwind with coffee and petits fours (if you still have room), before being whisked back up the hill by our tractor and trailer.

We are a licensed venue. We have a wide selection of the finest organic wines available to purchase.
Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. We put these guidelines in place for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests.

We kindly request you do not specify dislikes or preferences as we would love you to try the dishes our chefs have specifically created for the event so you can experience the menu as it was intended. Please be aware that we use ingredients in our kitchens which include allergens so we cannot guarantee against contamination.
