New Year’s Eve Feast

Round off the year and welcome the next, River Cottage-style, with an evening of the finest food, fizz and music in our beautifully restored barn.

They say you should start as you mean to go on, and what better way to kick off a new year than with a night of feasting, toasting and dancing against the idyllic backdrop of River Cottage HQ?

The evening will be a joyful affair filled with high spirits, music and dancing but at its heart will be the food. You will be treated to four courses of the finest produce with ingredients grown on the farm, and by our neighbours and network of local producers. Our team of talented chefs will devise an indulgent and inspiring menu which reflects our ethos of SLOW - seasonal, local, organic and wild - food and showcases their skill and the fantastic quality of the local ingredients. 

There will be drinks flowing and music to get the party started as we head towards midnight. Cheers!

  • Arrive at River Cottage

    You’ll be met at the top of the hill before being guided down to the heart of the farm.

  • Welcome and canapés

    You'll enjoy a seasonal cocktail and canapes on arrival and have the opportunity to explore the kitchen garden and your surroundings.

  • Chef’s introduction

    As you settle in for the evening, your head chef will introduce the menu and tell you more about our philosophy, the food’s provenance and how the dishes have been prepared.

  • The main event

    You’ll be treated to a four-course menu of fantastic local and seasonal produce, planned on the day to showcase the freshest and the best that our region has to offer.

  • The big countdown

    Five… four… three… two… one! You’ll see in the New Year with a glass of bubbly.

Vintage cheddar beignets, crab apple dipping sauce

Smoked Pollock on rye with lacto fermented celeriac

Sourdough, fresh butter, River Cottage charcuterie and pickles

Hand dived scallop cooked over coals with cotechino

First starter

Beef bone broth with beetroot cooked in embers, Eastern dumplings stuffed with cabbage and truffle


Mushroom broth with beetroots cooked in embers, eastern dumplings with cabbage and truffle (V)

Second starter

Cornish hake, bacon, watercress and cauliflower


Somerset Burrata, cauliflower, watercress, roast garlic and barley (V)

Main course

Rolled Park farm lamb loin, lamb faggot, caramelised onion puree and carrots cooked in summer hay

Winter leaves with crispy potatoes, old Winchester and anchovy dressing


Squash gnocchi, caramelised onion puree, crispy sage, Hereford lentils and sprouting broccoli (V)


Crème brulee tart with apple caramel and apple sorbet

This dining event is run from River Cottage HQ on the Dorset/Devon borders. Full address details of HQ will be provided once you have booked.

This event is for guests over the age of 13 only. Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. We put these guidelines in place for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests.

We can accommodate some food intolerances and allergies at our dining events, providing that these are mentioned when you make your reservation. Dietary accommodations we can make include those for vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian diets, those who are pregnant, and those with dairy, gluten, nut or shellfish allergies (we recommend you bring your epi pen).
