Taste East Devon - Feast
from £95.00
A six course feast as part of the Taste East Devon Food Festival 9-24 Sept 23
Join us at River Cottage HQ for a six course feast celebrating the fantastic produce and ingredients that East Devon has to offer, cooked by our Head Chef and Culinary Director Gelf Alderson. Their inspirational cooking reflects the passion, knowledge and commitment to provenance that fires up the whole River Cottage team and makes us so excited to work with the wonderful farmers and producers that surround us.
During the evening, our chef's will explain our SLOW ethos of ingredients that are Seasonal, Local, Organic and Wild: plants, meat and fish that have been foraged, grown, raised and caught either right here on the farm, or by nearby farmers, growers and artisans who share our passion for the finest provenance.
We are confident you will leave full of delicious food, happy memories and, we hope, some garden and kitchen inspiration too!
Highlights:
- Six courses of the finest seasonal, local, organic food
- Chef's welcome with guide to the menu
- Q+A with Head Chef & Culinary Director Gelf Alderson
- Time to explore the farm and veg garden
- Dietary requirements happily catered for

Your event
18:30 - 22:30
-
Arrive at River Cottage
You will be met at the top of the hill from where you will stroll down the scenic track to the heart of the farm - with its 17th-century farmhouse, livestock and extensive kitchen gardens.
-
Welcome
Before dinner, enjoy a local tipple or seasonal cocktail and explore our abundant kitchen garden where much of your feast will have originated. The first course, comprising our own River Cottage charcuterie with home-made seasonal pickles, ferments and our own sourdough bread, will be served in the garden with your aperitif if the weather allows.
-
Chef's introduction
Once you are settled in our beautiful threshing barn on our long tables, your Chef will introduce the menu and share the story of their own River Cottage adventures.
-
The main event
You’ll be treated to a menu of fantastic local and seasonal produce, planned on the day to showcase the freshest and the best from our farm and fantastic local suppliers.
-
To finish
After your final course of home-made petit fours with a coffee or a herbal infusion, it’s time to head back up the hill. If the walk up does not seem quite as appealing as the walk down was a few hours before, we will be happy to give you a lift in one of our trusty Land Rovers.
Please note: Hugh will not be attending this event.
