Adrian Gray is the pioneer of stonebalancing art. His work is predominantly sculpture and photography based on the natural world of balance. He creates balancing sculptures using natural stone, filming the balancing process as evidence of their creation and then fixes them in exactly their balanced position to make a permanent sculpture. Adrian also photographs his sculptures in natural locations to capture the transient beauty of their ephemeral state.
Adrian creates balanced sculptures as private commissions for the garden, home or workplace. He films the initial balance and then fixes the sculpture in its new location.
To show live examples of his work he performs stonebalancing demonstrations where he creates new sculptures on site.
In the past 18 years Adrian’s work has evolved to include new ideas and themes, but the predominant feature remains the beauty and seemingly impossible nature of balance.
