Have you planned your holidays yet? Why not pay a visit to our award-winning Cookery School this year! Our flagship course, Four Days at River Cottage, is popular with both local and international food enthusiasts and offers an immersive cooking experience packed full of learning and eating.

Whether you’re a beginner, food expert or even a full-blown smallholder, the Four Day course will leave you armed with the skill, confidence and motivation to cook delicious food at home.

Set in 65 acres of organic farm land overlooking the Axe Valley in Devon, our Cookery School is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a hands-on food holiday. We’re also just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Jurassic Coast and Broadchurch cliffs, so once the course has finished you are spoilt for choice with what to do next.

Our Cookery School is renowned for its keen sense of seasonality, sustainability and championing the best local producers and ingredients which make it a foodie hub where you can learn, dine and be inspired. On the Four Day course, you will cover the main principles of meat, fish, veg, bread and baking. The courses are run by a dedicated team of chef tutors who will teach you things like baking your own sourdough or the principles of butchery and offal. You might make pâté, rustle up a good gravy, fillet, cure and smoke fish; knock up fantastic vegetarian recipes and indulge your sweet tooth with cakes, pastries and desserts. Your four days will cover a huge range of basic and advanced kitchen skills – and you’ll get to taste all the results too.

Our 2016 Four Day courses are scheduled for the following start dates: 9 March, 12 May, 27 June, 21 July, 18 August, 22 September, 12 October and 11 November. Read more, here.

There are plenty of fantastic local accommodation options for your stay when visiting River Cottage HQ. Choose from B&Bs, self catering, hotels, camping and glamping sites. We are based in East Devon, just five minutes’ drive away from Axminster railway stations, which is on the main line direct from London Waterloo.
