*Fanfare please* new River Cottage menu for Cornish pub

Since we started working with Skinners Brewery to launch the Hop Store Restaurant in Truro five months ago, they are off to a flying start. So we've been busy devising a brand new collection of seasonal dishes to add to your much loved favourites.

The Old Ale House in Truro is helping diners to shake off the winter blues with the exciting introduction of its spring menu, bursting into the Hop Store Restaurant on Friday 27 February.

Our team have worked with Head Chef Jack Botha to create the menu. The much loved favourites such as Porthleven ale battered fish, and pulled pork shoulder with melted Cornish Yarg and potato wedges will remain, however diners will also be able to choose from a new selection of dishes such as Indian spiced lamb skewers with pear and ginger chutney, a Hop Store bunny burger, and a saffron doughnut with apple puree and clotted cream.

The new spring dishes have been designed to suit all appetites, from bar snacks and sharing platters, to healthy salads and hunger-busting main meals. The whole menu is inspired by Skinners Brewery ales and uses only the best produce from Cornwall.

The kitchen team are trained twice monthly in our Chefs' School here on Park Farm as part of the ongoing partnership. Jack Botha says, “The whole team is excited about introducing the new dishes to the mix. We have listened to customer feedback and introduced a few lighter dishes with more vegetarian options as a result. In addition to the brand new dishes, the whole menu is constantly adapting to reflect the seasons as we only use locally sourced produce. We’re always working with our suppliers to ensure our dishes are as fresh they possibly can be.”

Since launching the Hop Store Restaurant in September, our partnership with Skinners Brewery has got off to a flying start. Chris Griffin, Head of Consultancy and Education at River Cottage said, “There’s been an overwhelmingly positive reaction since the restaurant launched nearly five months ago. Jack Botha and the Skinners team have been working with our chefs at River Cottage to taste and tweak recipes over the past few weeks, and we’re positive they will become crowd-pleasers.”

Steve Skinner said, “It’s great to see the restaurant proving so popular with both visitors and locals alike. We have many regulars coming back to taste the whole menu, which we think is now even better than before!”
