Want to Become a River Cottage Chef Apprentice?
It’s back! River Cottage are pleased to announce that they are now accepting applications for their award winning culinary apprenticeship scheme, which will result in 60 new jobs in the South West.
Open to applicants aged 16-18, this life-changing opportunity will combine chef school based courses with on-the-job training across some of the South West’s top restaurants, pubs and hotels.
Highlights of the programme include insight into the world of globally renowned River Cottage, state of the art kitchens to train in, mentoring and support from established industry professionals, and the chance to compete for the prestigious Rising Star award. Best of all, there are no tuition fees to pay and learners will receive a salary from their employer during the 12 month programme.
Chris Griffin, Head of Education at River Cottage Chefs’ School, is looking forward to welcoming in the next round of budding chefs, “The Apprenticeship Scheme is aimed at cultivating and developing a new generation of chefs that we hope will go far in this creative, growing industry.”
Working with awarding body City and Guilds, River Cottage Chefs’ School are pleased to launch an NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery as well as the existing Level 2 course.
River Cottage founder, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall believes that learning on the job is crucial for budding chefs, “There is an enduring, knowledge-for-life quality to this kind of learning that cannot be replicated outside the workplace.
