River Cottage and Skinners partner up again

Foodies rejoice; we're teaming up with Skinners again to bring a new dining experience to Truro, in Cornwall. Famous for its fine selection of craft ales and cider and blooming flowers outside, The Old Ale House will launch a brand new menu and renovated dining room on Saturday 27 September, to coincide with the Great Cornish Food Festival weekend in Truro.

Our team of chefs have spent months perfecting the menu, inspired by great Cornish produce. With Skinners carefully matching ales to suit the dishes, the menu includes River Cottage EPA chicken wings, Cornish mussels in Lyonesse Cider, Betty Stogs battered fish, and Heligan Honey smoked beef brisket.

“We’ve tried and tested the recipes for the past few months and are all impressed by the results. The menu includes mouth-watering, succulent meat which is cooked low and slow for hours,” said Steve Skinner. “We can’t wait to offer the menu to our customers and really hope they’re as excited about the food as much as we are.”

We started working with Skinners last year when we sought a brewery to produce our own ale. With Skinners beliefs of using only the finest produce and traditional methods of brewing, we worked together to produce River Cottage EPA. Likewise, when Steve and the team at The Old Ale House wanted to revamp their existing menu, of course we wanted to return the favour.

Gary Richmond, River Cottage Chef Tutor, said, “It’s great working with people who are equally passionate about supporting local and small producers. The new menus embrace our SLOW philosophy of seasonal, local, organic and wild produce, the fish will be from sustainable sources, and the meat is from higher welfare Cornish farms.”

Just a ‘hop’ away from Skinners’ brewery itself, Skinner’s brewery tap The Old Ale House is often described as a Proper Cornish pub, with the friendliest welcome around. To complement the food relaunch, award winning interior design company have renovated the dining room upstairs.

Director of Camellia Interiors, Elaine Skinner, said, "Here at Camellia we always enjoy working on local projects. This renovation was close to both heart and home so we loved being involved and playing our part in the relaunch.”

The main bar area downstairs is perfect for grazing with a pint, while the upstairs lends itself to a more complete dining experience.

The Old Ale House is open daily from 11am till 11pm with a license until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights.
