Explore the Venue

Nestled in a valley near the Devon/Dorset border, River Cottage is a working farm with a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills and stunning sunsets. As the farm is exclusivley yours for the day, guests are welcome to explore at their leisure.

There are a variety of spaces and charming corners of the farm and we encourage you to make the most of the space available. You can choose to say your vows in the famous River Cottage Garden or the 18th-century Threshing Barn or anywhere else that takes your fancy.

The Threshing Barn

Our stunning threshing barn is an impressive, versatile space full of rustic charm and can seat up to 60 guests. (The adjoining decking can seat a further 20 guests during the summer months). Use of all furniture, cutlery, crockery, linen and glassware is included in the venue hire as well as jam jars of seasonal wild flowers for the dining tables. For the evening party we can accommodate a band or DJ of your choice and up to 120 for dancing into the small hours. 

The Garden

Our famous kitchen garden offers a picturesque space for an outside ceremony. On arrival or after the ceremony the garden is a gorgeous, relaxed setting for guests to wander amongst the organic veg patches while sipping a glass of fizz and listening to live music.

The Decking and Yurt

During the summer months we are able to accommodate a further 20 guests for dining on our decking under a permanent timber framed canvas marquee located just outside the threshing barn. Our yurt can be used for guests to relax and enjoy apertifs, or their coffee and petits fours by the fire.

The Farmhouse

Our stunning 17th century farmhouse sleeps up to 6 guests and is available to the night before or after your Big Day. It can also be used for more intimate ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and drinks receptions. 

Marquee Weddings

If you are planning a large celebration for over 60 daytime guests, we can hire in marquees which are situated in one of the idylic fields on the farm. A supplement will apply and is priced by requirement.
