River Cottage donate £3000 to Switchback

Switchback had their first trip of the year down to River Cottage HQ in April!

We are proud to support Switchback, a charity that helps young offenders settle into a new way of living that includes work or education after their release.

Last year we donated £3000 to the charity, but our support goes beyond this. Hugh and the team have been welcoming Switchback trainees to River Cottage for some time now.

Switchback had their first trip of the year down to River Cottage HQ in April! Hayley from Switchback sent us this lovely report following their visit:

“Arriving in Axminster, the group set up base camp with three tents. After settling in to their new home, the group followed Switchback tradition and went on a night walk, walking through fields with cows and seeing a baby lamb being born was a far cry from London life. The next day the River Cottage staff were amazing taking time to show Trainees how to make pizza and bread, a tea tasting session, farm tour, food tasting & much more. Before leaving to come back to London, Trainees were determined to swim in the sea. The sea was freezing but the sun was shining and the entire group kept their pact and went for a swim.

River Cottage is such an important part of Switchback; it offers our Trainees brand new experiences and memories that they will never forget, helping them to stick to their commitment to live life differently after prison.

So from all of us here at Switchback, THANK YOU so much for your continued support. It means such a great deal.”
