We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded VQ SME Employer of the Year Award by the prestigious educational charity Edge Foundation.

The charity recognised the outstanding support we have provided to those undertaking vocational qualifications (VQ). They also praised our ability to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to upskilling our workforce through vocational qualifications to help plug the hospitality industry's skills gap.

The award, sponsored by City & Guilds was presented by garden designer and television personality Diarmuid Gavin.

Harry Wild, Chefs' School said, "We're absolutely delighted that our investment in employees taking up vocational education has been recognised through this award. Our apprenticeship schemes encourage hospitality businesses to grow their own talent, so we can ensure the highest quality pipeline of chefs into the hospitality industry."

David Harbourne, acting CCEO of the Edge Foundation, said "I'm delighted that River Cottage has won this year's VQ SME Employer of the Year award. At every level of business River Cottage recognises the enormous value of investing in staff development - particularly to enhance their technical, practical and vocational skills.

"Their commitment sends a strong message about the value of vocational qualifications and the benefits they bring to employers, individual employees and the economy as a whole."

We are now taking applications for 60 new Professional Chef apprentices and 20 Food and Beverage Service apprentices to start this September. Applications for the Young Person Apprenticeship Scheme are being considered until the 26 August. Apply today, or call 01297 630313 to speak with our team.
